The City of Fayetteville will hold municipal elections this fall on November 4 for Mayor and all nine City Council districts.

Mayoral Candidates:

  • Mitch Colvin (incumbent, seeking fifth term)

  • Kathy Keefe Jensen (current Mayor Pro Tem, served on council since 2015)

City Council Candidates by District:

  • District 1 – Stephon Ferguson and James L. Thomas III

  • District 2 – Malik Davis and Gail Morfesis

  • District 3 – Antonio Jones and Jeremy Wright

  • District 4 – DJ Haire and Stuart A. Collick

  • District 5 – Lynne Bissette Greene (unopposed)

  • District 6 – Derrick Thompson and Kenneth E. Odegard II

  • District 7 – Brenda McNair and Kathy A. Greggs

  • District 8 – Rodney E. Garvin and Shaun McMillan

  • District 9 – Deno Hondros and Joe McGee

Key Issues:

  • Housing and zoning rules: decisions flow through the Unified Development Ordinance and Planning/Zoning/TRC processes (affects rezonings, infill, multifamily). 
  • Public safety tech: council renewed ShotSpotter for one year on an 8–2 vote. 
  • Infrastructure and utilities: FY2026 capital program guides multi-year city projects; PWC basic facility charges for water/wastewater are scheduled to rise in 2025 and 2026. 

Primary results (Oct. 7): 

(Fayetteville only held council primaries in Districts 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9. Districts 3, 4, and 6)

  • Mayor: Mitch Colvin 47.62%, Kathy Keefe Jensen 18.09% (top two advance). 

  • District 1: Stephon Ferguson 34%, James L. Thomas III 29% (advanced).  

  • District 2: Malik Davis 62%, Gail Morfesis 23%.  

  • District 7: Brenda McNair 75%, Kathy A. Greggs 15%.  

  • District 8: Shaun McMillan 73%, Rodney E. Garvin 20%.  

  • District 9: Deno Hondros 60%, Joe McGee 21%.
