Message from the Fort Bragg Garrison Commander

Greetings:
I am writing to inform you of an upcoming closure of the All American Gate and the Gruber Road Bridge on Fort Bragg, which will impact commuters in Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, the All American Gate will close to all traffic to allow for significant and necessary repairs to the roadway. Simultaneously, the Gruber Road Bridge overpass will also be closed for a complete replacement. The construction for these critical infrastructure projects is expected to last for approximately 24 months.

These upgrades, while temporarily disruptive, are essential for enhancing the safety and long- term readiness of Fort Bragg's infrastructure. This project is being conducted in partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation under an Inter-Governmental Service Agreement. In June, NCDOT awarded a $15.5 million construction contract to Highland Paving of Fayetteville for the project.

We understand this closure will cause a temporary inconvenience for the many commuters who visit Fort Bragg for events, meetings and medical appointments. To mitigate the impact, we will be shifting manpower to other access points and extending the operating hours of some gates.

The following gates will be available as alternatives (*24-hour gates*):

• To the south: Yadkin Road*, Rock Merritt Avenue, and Canopy Lane* gates.
• To the north/east: Honeycutt Road*, R. Miller Street*, and Butner Road gates.
• To the west: Long Street*, Chicken Road*, and Manchester Road gates

The All-American Visitor Center will remain open. Visitors can also request visitor access online. Once a pass is approved online or in person, you may proceed to the nearest open gate.
